It is calculated as the ratio of the <b>actual production time<\/b> to the <b>planned busy time<\/b>. <\/p><p>The <b>planned operating time<\/b> results from the <b>total reference period<\/b> (e.g., one calendar week) <b>minus non-production periods<\/b> (e.g., weekends) and <b>scheduled downtimes<\/b> (e.g., routine cleaning and machine maintenance).<br>To determine the <b>main operating time<\/b>, actual stoppages, <b>breakdown-related interruptions<\/b> and the <b>actual setup<\/b> time are deducted from the <b>planned operating time<\/b>; the <b>main operating time<\/b> is therefore an <b>actual time<\/b>, i.e., one <b>measured in reality<\/b>, which makes it crucial for an accurate <a href=\"https:\/\/selfbits.de\/en\/learn\/digital-production-i40\/overall-equipment-effectiveness-oee\/\"><b>OEE calculation<\/b><\/a> to record this time as <b>precisely and immediately<\/b> as possible. It is generated periodically and on demand. Values range from 0 % up to a maximum of 100 %. The larger the number\u2014meaning the higher the utilisation of the machine relative to the planned time\u2014the better. In the context of OEE, availability is also called the utilisation rate and forms the third factor, alongside performance and quality rate, in the equation.
